One Lincoln Recipes – Zombie Fingers

‘Tis the season for creepy creatures and ghastly ghouls to start finding their way out of hiding. Scare them away and show them you won’t tolerate their pranks or scares by making these realistic and delicious Zombie Finger Cookies with Strawberry Blood Sauce! Just don’t let creepy creatures taste these delicious cookie appendages or you might be stuck with them until next Halloween!

Shortbread Zombie Finger Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of Butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup of Sugar
  • 2 cups of Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon of Salt
  • Approximately 2 dozen Almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar together. Set aside.
  3. Sift the flour and salt togehter.
  4. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar until just combined.
  5. Shape dough into ‘fingers’ and place on lined sheet tray
  6. Add almonds to one end to resemble ‘fingernails’.
  7. Bake approximately 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. As soon as removed from the oven, use a knife to gently score ‘knuckles’.

Strawberry ‘Blood’ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of cut Strawberries
  • 1/4 cup of Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of Water
  • Red Food Coloring

Instructions

  1. Cut strawberries into small pieces and sprinkle with sugar.
  2. Add water and cook in a saucepan until berries are soft.
  3. Add red food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  4. Blend all items until smooth.
