One Lincoln Recipes – Strawberry Challah Bread Pudding

You don’t have to celebrate Hanukkah to enjoy this delicious dessert! Using one of the most delicious breads available at this time of year, this twist on a classic bread pudding offers a sweet treat that is full of flavor and will have your guests asking for the recipe.

Strawberry Challah Bread Pudding

Ingredients

    • 14 ounce Challah Loaf
    • Strawberry Sauce
      • 1 pound Strawberries
      • ½ cup Sugar
      • ½ teaspoon Vanilla Bean Paste
      • ½ tablespoon fresh Lemon Juice
    • Vanilla Custard
      • 1 cup Sugar
      • 4 large Eggs
      • 1 1/3 cup Whole Milk
      • 1 1/3 cup Heavy Cream
      • 1 Vanilla Bean, split lengthwise

Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
    2. Cut Challah into ½ inch cubes
    3. Butter 12 ½ x 8 inch baking pan
    4. Strawberry Sauce
      1. Combine all ingredients into a saucepan.
      2. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
    5. Vanilla Custard
      1. Whisk sugar & eggs together.
      2. Combine milk, cream, and vanilla bean into saucepan; bring to simmer.
      3. Slowly add heated mixture into the eggs and sugar, whisking continuously.
  1. Mix together bread and strawberry sauce and put into baking dish
  2. Pour custard over mixture.
  3. Bake for 50 minutes in a water bath. Once out of the oven, let cool in the water bath.
